A double layer of curtains is used in rooms to provide choices to the user. The first layer of curtains is semitransparent and produces an effect similar to a net curtain, while the second layer of curtains is heavy and completely opaque. Usually the print or design on both the layers of curtains is the same but the fabrics are completely different.
In case you do not want such an elaborate window dressing, then you can go for curtains with linings, since they are capable of blocking sunlight better and come cheaper compared to double layered curtains.
Double layered curtains, however, look more stylish and give you the option of using a translucent layer of curtain to filter and diffuse light and create unique lighting conditions in your room.
